Avalo and World Collective Open New “Low-Footprint Cotton” to Brands of All Sizes Through Demand Aggregation

In the first step of their partnership, limited amount of yards of Avalo's Low-Footprint Cotton are available from a 100-yard minimum, for three months or until the target volume is reached.

Amsterdam, October 8, 2026 — World Collective, the supplier-first sourcing platform for fashion, and crop innovation company Avalo launch the first step of their partnership: a demand aggregation campaign that makes Avalo's Low-Footprint Cotton accessible to brands of every size. The first round opens 710 yards from a 100-yard minimum. It runs until January, 2027, or until the target volume is reached.

Materials innovation has an access problem. New materials usually launch with the largest brands, because mills sell by the full roll and need volume to move. Those minimums shut out the small and mid-sized brands that are often the first ready to adopt. The result: innovation stays in pilots, and the brands that want it can't buy it.

Demand aggregation closes that gap. World Collective pools orders from many brands into one committed volume. Each brand commits the yardage it needs, from 100 yards, and pays at checkout. A live progress bar tracks every commitment toward the 710-yard target, and Avalo ships each order as it is placed. No brand has to carry the whole minimum alone.

The material. Low-Footprint Cotton is a 3x1 twill, 8 oz/yd, made from 100% regeneratively grown cotton from Avalo's first-ever harvest. Grown in Texas and spun in North Carolina, it is fully traceable across Avalo's cotton, spinning and weaving partners. Avalo uses AI to naturally breed cotton adapted to the region where it grows. Compared with conventionally grown cotton, it uses 0 irrigated water, 75% less fertilizer and 47% less carbon (LCA verified).

Two leaders behind the launch. The partnership brings together two executives who have spent their careers moving new materials from pilot to production, and who have worked together for years across different organizations.

  • Tricia Carey, Chief Commercial Officer at Avalo, spent more than two decades at Lenzing bringing TENCEL™ to brands including Levi's and Gap, then led the commercialization of Circulose® as Chief Commercial Officer at Renewcell.

  • Jeanine Ballone, Founder & CEO of World Collective, led global innovation across PVH's brand portfolio for a decade and built textile operations in Turkey and India before founding World Collective.

"Innovation doesn't scale without access. Most next-gen materials stall after the pilot because only the biggest brands can meet the minimums. Demand aggregation changes that math: many brands, one committed volume. Tricia and I have spent our careers getting new materials into production. This is how you get there faster, and how you get there together."

— Jeanine Ballone, Founder & CEO, World Collective

In order to evolve the fashion industry, Avalo is working with the biggest brands in the world to lower the ecological footprint of the cotton supply chain.

But in order to move the cultural needle, we want our cotton to be available to any creative designers looking to make garments more sustainably. World Collective makes it possible for us to do both.

— Tricia Carey, Chief Commercial Officer, Avalo
