[PRESS RELEASE] World Collective, Denim Deal, and Green Story have announced the launch of their Digital Product Passport (DPP) pilot together, now live with three denim fabrics. The milestone marks a significant shift in how the fashion industry approaches supply chain transparency: by embedding DPP data at the fabric level, suppliers can structure their information once and make it accessible to every brand they work with – eliminating the repetitive, inefficient practice of sharing the same data individually with each partner.
The three denim fabrics currently live on the platform are from the Indian supplier, and Denim Deal member, Bhaskar Savitt Industries:
Each product features an interactive DPP widget on the product page, providing transparent access to detailed fabric composition, sustainability metrics, and supplier information.
"The bottleneck in supply chain transparency has never been data availability, it's standardization and scalable distribution," says Jeanine Ballone, Co-Founder & CEO, World Collective. "Currently, suppliers are asked to share the same information separately by dozens of brands. Our pilot shows that when suppliers invest in structuring their data once, in a standardized format, that information becomes infinitely more valuable. It's not just efficient; it's a competitive advantage. Suppliers with comprehensive DPP data can demonstrate their practices and capabilities directly to the market."
Getting Ahead of Regulation: A Market Opportunity for Responsible Suppliers
While comprehensive DPP regulations remain under development at the EU and beyond, industry consensus is clear: standardized textile product data will soon be a market requirement. For suppliers, particularly those with strong sustainability practices and quality commitments, the timing presents a strategic opportunity. By adopting DPP standards now, responsible manufacturers can differentiate themselves in the market before regulation mandates it, turning compliance readiness into genuine competitive advantage.
“Suppliers have spent years proving their sustainability story to every brand separately. This pilot ends that. Structure the data once at the fabric level, and it travels with the material – into every garment, every claim, every conversation about recycled content. That's the infrastructure Denim Deal's members need to get one billion jeans past the finish line”, says Nicolas Prophte, Founder & Board Member, Denim Deal.
“DPPs will only scale if we stop treating every finished product as a new data-collection exercise. The real opportunity is to create reusable data building blocks across the supply chain. We’re proud that Green Story is powering the sustainability data infrastructure behind this pilot, helping turn supplier data into structured, credible information that can travel through the value chain", says Akhil Sivanandan, CEO, Green Story
From Pilot to Scale: Texhibition Istanbul Activation
The partnership is moving quickly to demonstrate the model's scalability. At Texhibition Istanbul in September, the region's leading textile exhibition, World Collective, in partnership with Denim Deal and Green Story, will host an activation at their booth designed to engage Turkish denim suppliers and prepare them for DPP adoption. The initiative targets some of the world's most important denim manufacturers, helping them understand how to structure their data as a market differentiator before regulation arrives.
"Turkish denim suppliers are at the heart of global fashion production," says Jeanine Ballone. "By bringing DPP infrastructure directly to them through this activation, we're showing them how structured data translates to new business opportunities. Brands are increasingly demanding this information. Having it ready, standardized, and accessible removes friction and opens doors."
A New Paradigm for Supplier Data
The implementation addresses what industry observers are understanding as an "intermediary DPP", product passport data embedded at the component or material level, rather than waiting just for finished products. This approach aims to solve several challenges:
-
Single source of truth: Suppliers structure their information once and share it globally
-
Reduced burden: Eliminates the need to re-submit the same data to individual brands
-
Scalability: As more brands adopt DPP standards, the value of structured supplier data increases exponentially
-
Competitive positioning: Suppliers with comprehensive DPP information can highlight their practices and certifications directly
Next Steps: From Pilot to Ecosystem
The three organizations are already in discussions with additional textile producers to expand the pilot. The Texhibition Istanbul activation will serve as both a proof-of-concept and a recruitment engine, bringing Turkish manufacturers into the regulatory readiness ecosystem and establishing the region as an early adopter of digital supply chain innovation.
"This is the beginning," says Ballone. "Our goal is to make structured product data into the sourcing flow. When suppliers and brands operate with the same information infrastructure, friction disappears and trust increases. This pilot is another step toward a scalable sourcing ecosystem."
About World Collective
World Collective is a digital sourcing platform for the fashion industry, connecting brands with vetted material suppliers and manufacturers across Europe, Turkey, Morocco, Colombia, India and Asia. It gives brands of every size access to sourcing infrastructure that has until now belonged to the largest: verified supply, capability matched to the brief, and full-package production from material to finished garment. Supplier data is structured once at the source and travels with every enquiry, so the record of how a product was made is built as production happens. This fabric-level DPP pilot is World Collective's second initiative, developed in partnership with industry leaders, as it studies the market ahead of emerging regulations, always grounded in understanding supplier realities and building the infrastructure suppliers need to get compliance-ready.
About Denim Deal
Denim Deal is a global public-private collaboration between partners across the denim value chain, working to normalise and increase the use of post-consumer recycled cotton. Its goal is one billion pairs of jeans containing at least 20 percent post-consumer cotton. Through workshops, pilots and alignment with emerging legislation, the initiative builds the knowledge and the connections its members need to make reverse supply chains work in practice.
About Green Story
Green Story is the intelligence layer for global fashion, turning fragmented product and supply chain data into decision-grade information for brands and suppliers. Its work rests on two pillars: an AI-first technology platform and expert-led assurance. For brands, the platform delivers product-level life cycle assessments, traceability, verified environmental footprints and Digital Product Passports at catalogue scale, with reporting automated against regulations including ESPR and CSRD. For suppliers, it replaces repeat questionnaires with one structured data set, captured once and shared across customers, cutting reporting time by 80 to 95 percent. Behind both sits a team of PhD-level experts who conduct assessments, audit supply chains and validate data, so outputs are automated and defensible. Green Story works with more than 200 brands across 34 countries.
